Editorial Opinion: A wailer believes the President was right!
“More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education for free.”
The above statement is what PMB said which has been causing a lot of ruckus and kerfuffle in the social media.
To start with, am a wailer, a certified wailer, I do not in anyway support the return of president Muhammadu Buhari for a second term. However, I must admit that my fellow wailers are indeed over exaggerating it this time around. I see nothing but simple truth in the President's statement.
Spare some minutes of your time, and visit any of the various bet naija centers around your area, you find it full of youths, youths as in fresh 'niggas' wallowing away considerable strength and reasonable time in the pursuit of 'sharp money'. They are a true definition of the peak of irresponsibility.
Watching football moderately is not a problem, but when you become obsessed with football issues is definitely a problem, go to the various football viewing centers and see the way our youths fight dirty over the exploits and heroism of people within their very own age bracket. You would agree with me that the likes of MO Salah and Neymar are still surely below 30. Rather than wasting time in watching, celebrating and fighting dirty over the success of others, why not build yourself and at least make a difference??
Take even the educated youths for instance, how many of them can boast of taking any reasonable step towards enhancing their lives, you will see a youth with laptop, rather than putting it into good use, he had prefer watching films with it, day in day out, waiting for his own share of government cake. Brother are you normal???
The drug addicts, masters of the jungle, the roadsides story tellers, the 'majlisa' crooners, who are they? They are our youths. Those who spend 24 hours on the social media insulting politicians old enough to be their fathers, the political thugs, the hooligans, the area boys, who are they, are they not the youths?? Truth be told, even in psychology, the dispositions of the youths is more inclined to a carefree, thoughtless and to some extent violent dimension, ah ah, have you all forgotten the theory on youth exuberance, did the president lied? Was it not a mere attestation to empirical facts as corroborated by psychological thesis???
Fellow wailers, President Muhammadu Buhari, so far, has shown reasonable commitment towards the welfarism of youths in Nigeria, who brought about N-POWER, who are the beneficiaries of N power if not the youths?? Have you forgotten the 500,000 graduate youths it empowered ?? How about the 10 billion naira project he launched in early 2016 via the Bank of industry towards a project titled YES (Youth entrepreneurship support). Fellow wailers, honestly this argument of ours saying the president do not have the interest of youths at heart can not hold water, I failed to even see where he expressly called us 'lazy', did he? I am not sure he did.
We couldn't even discuss the stolen mace issue in full, yet you all without even consultations with a fellow wailer, all went haywire about a statement innocently made, which was nothing but a statement of fact. If you cannot sincerely argue that what he said was a total lie, why insisting on blaming him for saying the truth?.
